California Community College Athletic Association 2023 Stats
The 2023 CCCAA season has started and StopRefAbuse is monitoring both the Men's and Women's schools this year. Also, we will be adding to our statistics Send Off (Red Cards) that have been issued to players and will be following up with the referees (when possible) to see if any of these send-offs are for any form of Referee Abuse. As always, we encourage all referees to report ANY form of abuse on the site (regardless of what match it is) so that we can collect as much data as possible and follow up if necessary. We will continue to update this site (hopefully weekly).
Final stats of the CCCAA 2022 season
With 1 match remaining in the 2022 men's CCCAA season (12/4/2022 3:30 pm Mt. Sac vs. Oxnard @ American River College), the final bench disciplinary stats have been calculated. The total amount of cards issued to Bench Personnel this year was 91 with 78 yellow cards and 13 red card (dismissals). This is a slight uptick from the last full season of the CCCAA. Once again, the Orange Empire Conference runs away with being the least disciplined Conference in the CCCAA. Numerous attempts to reach out to the Orange Empire Commissioner to find out what actions (if any), the OEC was taking to curb the lack of discipline in the Conference. Unfortunately, the Commissioner did not respond to Stop Ref Abuse's request for comment. The Orange Empire Conference had 20 cards issued to Bench Personnel in the 2022 season which is DOUBLE the next offending Conference (Pacific Coast Athletic Conference), 3 of those cards resulted in the Dismissal of a member of the coaching staff. Also this year, one of the OEC coaches was Dismissed for Offensive, Insulting, or Abusive language toward a referee, then subsequently called the police on the referee before the match had concluded. How did the OEC respond, the coach was given a 1-match suspension (the bare minimum for receiving the red card).
The most disciplined conference this year goes to the Coast - North Conference with 3 total cards (1 Red Card) with honorable mentions going to the Inland Empire Athletic Conference and the Golden Valley Conference for only having their benches receive 4 cards, but zero coaches dismissed.
Stop Ref Abuse will be working with the referee community in the next several months in an effort to obtain more data regarding referee abuse/assaults. This will be done by conducting workshops, attending tournaments, and social media exposure. If you are interested in conducting a workshop with your referees, coaches, administrators, etc, please feel free to reach out to us at: Reports@StopRefAbuse.Org
